Maintenance-Fabricator Person
Alter Trading Corporation is searching for a Maintenance person in its Eau Claire location.
This location has an auto shredder which aids in recycling process. The ideal applicant will be self motivated and willing to work outside.
Summary Description:
The employee in this position must enjoy working with their hands, have an eye for detail and an analytical mind.
In addition, you must be able to use a variety of tools and equipment, the ability to read blueprints, recognize welding symbols and specifications. You must also prepare, fabricate, and weld various constructions, components and structures from patterns and blueprints using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or asse3mble components.
Fabricate metal objects by laying out, cutting, and fitting, measuring, and welding metals to create the desired shape or object.
Perform detailed quality checks to ensure that it meets all standards and requirements. Document work and results, keeping records of labor and materials used.
Utilize a variety of tools to work with metal. Operate cutting saws to cut various metals, and weld and grind and grand fabricated structures to meet structural requirements.
Essential Functions:
•Maintains plant productivity by proactively managing maintenance function.
•Welding and Fabrication work on stationary equipment.
•Ensure proper Parts Inventory.
•Maintain facility equipment.
•Perform repairing, installing troubleshooting, set up and adjusting, welding, torching and lubrication activities, ensuring the maximum utilization of the company’s machines and equipment, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
•Responsible for inventory management of maintenance supplies and utilization of personnel and equipment to maximize processing capabilities.
•Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems, PLC, valves, cylinders, bearings, and electric motors.
•Check with key operations (forklift, loader, and separator) to be sure all equipment is running properly; and schedule maintenance as required.
•Prepare and maintain all maintenance records, and daily reports.
•Assign, review, and check work of maintenance done by employees, providing on-the-job training as needed; eliminating ordinary work difficulties.
•May be involved in a variety of other responsibilities including ordering of parts, welding, fabricating, and performance electrical repairs (minor).
•Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
•Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Compute ratio, rate, and percent.
•Perform reading, writing, and speaking at a professional level.
•Interpersonal skills to oversee and direct work of subordinates required.
•Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklift, loaders, and material separators a plus
•Organizational skills required.
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 – 50 pounds.
•Requires the completion of all job-related skills training such as Welding (stick), and fabricating skills are required.

•Set and adjust bearings, replace, and adjust belts, drives, idlers, etc.
•Perform maintenance of drive components, install, and adjust equipment, and charge, adjust, and align conveyors, idlers, etc.
•Perform system maintenance on conveyor drive systems, including belt repair and installation, take-up, and roller alignment, bearing care and replacement, etc.
•Perform troubleshooting and repairing bushings, shims, etc. Install, maintain, and repack bearings, pumps, and cylinders. Install, maintain, and replace seals. Maintain filter systems.
•Install, operate, and perform scheduled maintenance activities of pumps and mechanical drives. Troubleshoot and replace reducers, gears, bearings, shafts, etc. Install and maintain piping systems.
•Install tubing and hose systems. Install and maintain valves. Install equipment, including the alignment, grouting, leveling, anchoring, etc.
•Assist other maintenance personnel to move and position parts, materials, tools, etc. and to disassemble and reassemble machines and equipment.
•Operate company vehicle to pick up parts and materials in local area.
•Operate power lift equipment to move and position material and supplies. Assure the rigging is proper, safe, and appropriate for the lift involved.
•Perform intermediate torching activities as directed.
•Notify supervisor of any problems or concerns related to equipment, tools, etc.
•Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
•Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
Q. Plan work sequences to ensure the most effective completion of work assignments.
•Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
