The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, verifying, and processing outgoing shipments to ensure accurate and on-time delivery to customers. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and coordination with carriers, customer service, and warehouse staff.
- Prepare Bills of Lading and shipping labels.
- Verify orders against packing lists before shipping.
- Ensure packaging meets company and carrier requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate freight pick-ups with carriers.
- Track shipments and provide status updates to customer service.
- Check for shipping errors and correct before dispatch.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company shipping regulations.
- Assist in freight claims processing when damages or shortages occur.
- File shipping records and maintain accurate documentation.
- Communicate with customer service, brokers, and carriers regarding daily shipments.
- 1–3 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience.
- Familiarity with Bills of Lading, routing, and freight quotes.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and work orders.
- Ability to lift packages up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and operate material handling equipment as needed.
