Shipping and Receiving/Finishing Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Shipping and Receiving/Finishing Manager to oversee the shipping and finishing operations on our yard. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end processes of order fulfillment, ensuring that orders are accurately weighed, tagged, picked, packaged, and prepared for customer pickup and or shipment. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to multitask easily. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and or General Manager.

Hours

- Monday - Saturday/Sunday 6:00 am - 5:30 pm (busy season)

Responsibilities

- Supervise daily finishing operations, order picking, packaging, weighing, and shipping processes and ensure orders are up to CWG standards.

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices within the work area.

- Oversee the operation of equipment such as forklifts, portable loading ramp, and automatic banding equipment.

- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance productivity and accuracy in finishing operations.

- Train and mentor staff (up to 5 personnel) on proper procedures for handling orders, packaging techniques, and equipment operation.

- Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels for shipping and receiving consumables and minimize discrepancies.

- Keep orders neatly stored while simultaneously keeping the laydown yard neat and tidy.

- Help finishing team clean and prepare steel for customer pick up when needed.

- Set up LTL shipments by accurately writing BOLs.

- Coordinate with the Operations Manager on incoming/outgoing orders and with the Production Manager on current orders being processed to ensure timely completion.

Requirements

- Experience with order picking processes in a fast-paced environment loading and unloading multiple trucks at a time.

- Familiarity with operating forklifts safely and efficiently.

- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail in managing multiple orders (up to 50 at a time)

- Strong leadership abilities to motivate team members and drive operational excellence.

- Strong customer service skills.

- Ability to use Google sheets, Outlook, and cell phone.

- Ability to use various hand tools such as a grinder, file, and handheld bander.

- Basic arithmetic.

- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in all weather conditions including hot, cold, rain, and snow.

- Ability to lift 5 - 50 pounds frequently and up to 50 - 100 pounds occasionally with help.

Preferred

- 3-5 years experience in a shipping and receiving role (minimum)

- 1-2 years experience in a supervisory or managerial role (minimum)

- Multiple professional references

- Excellent proficiency reading/writing in English language (minimum) with moderate proficiency in Spanish a plus

Pay

- DOE $20-$30 hour with room to grow based on performance
