Shipping and Materials Clerk

Primary Function:

Arrange for receipt, shipment, transfer and/or maintenance of materials/inventory. Maintain associated records utilizing manual and/or computerized applications following established policies and procedures. Load and unload shipments.

Working procedure and/or responsibility assigned:

Perform work of equal or lower skill level as required.

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

Intradepartmental – Daily – Exchange information and receive specific instructions.

Interdepartmental – Frequent – Make arrangements for shipping or delivery of materials.

Transportation – As required – Arrange for pickup and/or delivery of shipments.

Vendors – As required – Exchange information regarding purchase orders or shipments.

Direction of others:

May provide guidance or assistance to departmental personnel as to proper point of delivery, loading, unloading and/or transfer of materials.

Direction received:

Under limited supervision, must plan and arrange work schedule following established policies and procedures. Receives specific instructions on special requests from manager or requisitioner.

Education requirement:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience requirement:

One year experience in shipping, receiving, materials, property management or equivalent. Computer experience desired.
