Comco’s Operation department is currently seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented individual to join our team as a Shipper/Dispatcher.
The Shipper/Dispatcher plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient shipping operations. This individual will be responsible for preparing shipping documentation, coordinating internal & external truck dispatch, monitor expediting channel, communicating with transport drivers and material handlers, and ensuring the product is accurately and safely loaded for transport. This position involves both administrative and hands-on warehouse duties.
Shift = 12 pm to 8:30 pm, Monday to Friday with shift premium of $1.50 per hour
- Prepare shipping documentation, including bill of landing, packing slips, and labels
- Monitor the Comco Western Expediting communication channel and ensure messages are promptly dispersed to the appropriate internal teams or individuals
- Coordinate transportation for product deliveries and pickups, including internal drivers and third-party carriers
- Dispatch drivers and confirm logistics details to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Assist transport drivers upon arrival by providing shipping documentation, load details, and clear direction
- Verify outgoing shipments for quantity, accuracy, and damage
- Label, wrap, and prepare orders for shipping
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load trucks and move product
- Manually lift and carry boxes or product to and from shelves delivery trucks, or customers as required
- Utilize ERP system to enter, update, and manage shipping data
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and inventory movement
- Inspect warehouse equipment regularly and report maintenance needs
- Follow and promote all health and safety policies and
- Keep a clean, safe, and organized workspace
- Participate in year-end physical inventory (September)
- Overtime may be required depending on workload
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working in a warehouse shipping environment
- Minimum 1 year of forklift experience
- Previous experience in dispatching or logistic coordination considered an asset
- Strong computer proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Outlook & TEAMs
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labour in a warehouse setting
- Positive attitude and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
This is a safety-sensitive position. The successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical & physical evaluation and drug test, including testing for cannabis.
