We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to lead our installation team and ensure the successful completion of solar projects.
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the install team members who are operating out of the Kelowna, BC location. These teams will be installing residential and commercial solar systems. This role is responsible for ensuring they do safe, high-quality work efficiently. As a key member of the Operations Management Team, you will work with other departments to continuously improve processes and overall customer experience. You will lead by example and demonstrate strong commitment to excellence, professionalism, and teamwork.
What you'll do
•Oversee and manage all aspects of solar photovoltaic (PV) installation projects, including resource allocation, labour costs, scheduling, and quality control.
•Manage a team of high-quality field crews including Electricians, Electrical Apprentices, and Installers operating out of our Kelowna location.
•Train, mentor, and supervise the solar installation team, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, industry best practices, and company policies and procedures.
•Monitor and track project progress, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines, budgets, and performance targets. Problem solve as required.
•Estimate and order materials, manage inventory, equipment, and personnel needed for residential or commercial solar installation projects.
•Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project status and ensure quality control and safety compliance.
•Manage the relationship with the customer from project details to install and beyond, including options for additional services post installation and ensuring customers understand how to maximize the benefits of their solar and working with any potential warranty issues
•Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures
•Work with utility companies to obtain Permitting and complete Net Metering applications
•Resolve any installation issues or discrepancies, working closely with team members and other departments to find effective solutions.
•Be available for consultation with Sales teams in order to ensure the design plan is optimized for the project (as it relates to the electrical)
•Stay up-to-date on industry advancements, regulations, and best practices, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and overall performance.
•Drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Customer Service, and Productivity.
•Oversee the on-site facilities warehouse and inventory (including tools, vans and equipment required to supply and store inventory on site).
Qualifications
•Journeyman Electrician, FSR preferred (will certify)
•3 to 5 years of relevant work experience with proven leadership skills. Deep understanding of solar product management and general product knowledge
•Strong understanding of solar system design, installation, and maintenance principles.
•Knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
•Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
•A successful track record with demonstrated capability to lead and drive process improvements.
•Customer service experience - a previous customer-facing role is preferred
•Self-motivated person who can operate independently and can excel in a high-growth environment.
•Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members.
•Proficient in using CRM software and design software.
•Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and strong safety track record.
•Residential solar experience required; Commercial solar experience preferred.
•Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as travel to various job sites is required.
