Job Summary
The Senior Storage Reservoir Engineer will lead advanced reservoir characterization and optimization efforts across both salt cavern and depleted field natural gas storage assets. This role is instrumental in improving operational performance, enabling data-driven strategy, and supporting the evaluation and implementation of fit-for-purpose reservoir modeling software.
Key Responsibilities
- Characterize storage performance under operational scenarios including high-turn salt and seasonal depletion.
- Identify and quantify optimization opportunities for deliverability, capacity, and conformance.
- Develop KPI dashboards and tracking systems to monitor and improve reservoir performance.
- Generate and/or validate injection and withdrawal performance curves.
- Lead inventory audit and verification process internally and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Present technical recommendations and optimization strategies to senior leadership.
- Provide technical and reservoir support in evaluation of expansion opportunities (both greenfield and brownfield)
- Integrate models with real-time operational data (e.g., OSIsoft PI, SCADA) for cycle and rate optimization.
- Support evaluation and selection of static/dynamic modeling platforms aligned with business needs.
- Generate dynamic reservoir modeling and simulation using INTERSECT, Eclipse, Kappa, or similar tools.
- Mentor junior team members and support technical standards development.- 7+ years of experience in underground gas storage (salt cavern/depleted field) or relatable industry.
- Proficiency in dynamic reservoir simulation tools (INTERSECT, Eclipse, Kappa, etc).
- Proven track record of optimizing storage KPIs through reservoir modeling.
- Experience with real-time data integration and operational support.
- Strong reporting and presentation skills.
- Experience with multi-site storage portfolios.
- Exposure to regulatory modeling or compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with digital twin or machine learning-based modeling.
- Demonstrated asset optimization gains of ≥10% in key KPIs.
- Supported selection and implementation of improved modeling software.
- Developed KPI frameworks used across assets for tracking and reporting.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or related field required.
