This position is responsible for assisting with Greenfire’s growth strategy including the ongoing management and optimization of SAGD wells in Greenfire’ portfolio at its Hangingstone Expansion and Demo operations as well as the evaluation and appraisal of other developmental prospects.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze SAGD reservoir performance and recommend asset depletion plans of sustaining well pads as well as including the evaluation and development of new technologies
- Develop and maintain production forecasts, long range analysis in support of marketing, reserves, and annual budgeting tasks
- Provide support for regulatory applications for SAGD, disposal, and technology development and deployment
- Data gathering, review and analysis for subsurface support including annual reporting, observation well data, disposal well operation, and raw water wells
- Provide engineering input to optimize well design, lifting strategy, well spacing, re-drills and infill drilling, outboards, new WPs from existing and future well pads.
- Perform competitor analysis to assist with reservoir development strategies
- Initiate and manage specific reservoir engineering projects as required to optimize reservoir performance.
- Assist in developing numerical models for field history matching and performance predictions.
- Work closely with field production, operations, and geosciences to monitor and recommend operating targets to optimize reservoir performance and achieve production targets on SAGD well pairs
- Work closely with field production to optimize NCG co-injection and disposal well operating targets
- Mentor professional engineers and EITs in reservoir management tasks
- Other duties to support reservoir development, production operations, and management as required
- Valid APEGA membership with a Professional Engineer designation
- Minimum 10 years of experience in SAGD reservoir and well management
- Experience with thermal reservoir and production operations is required
- Experience with GeoScout/Acumap is preferred
- Experience with Gas Lift/ESP operations, steam lift, and NCG (non-condensable gas) injection is preferred
- Knowledge of thermal recovery processes, well operations, wellbore hydraulics, well completions, sand control design, artificial lift, and downhole instrumentation is considered an asset Subsurface database (PowerBI, Tableau, Spotfire,…), excel and data analytics experience is preferred.
