Department Overview

The Law Department provides timely, efficient and business-focused legal services to the company. The Law Department’s substantive legal activities fall into the following categories: Litigation, Employment, Regulatory, Strategy and Policy, Commercial Contract, and Corporate Services.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing legal administrative support to litigation, employment law case management, contract review and regulatory filings. Compose, edit and proofread pleadings, testimonies, memoranda, correspondence, reports and various other documents for attorneys, federal, state, and local courts including CPUC and other regulatory agencies. Record and monitor the docket schedule of court appearance dates, pleadings, cases and filing deadlines for attorneys. Prepare witnesses and assemble case materials, exhibits and documents for meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances. Collaborate with attorneys, client groups, and other support staff to address and resolve various legal matters and compliance issues. Compose non-disclosure agreements regarding PG&E policies, procedures and practices. Assist in all phases in trial, arbitration, mediation and deposition preparation including e-discovery productions, data review and all forms of discovery.

You will be responsible for providing legal administrative support to litigation and regulatory case management, corporate, subpoena administration, and contract management within PG&E’s Legal Department.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $95,000 ​

Bay Area Maximum: $143,000 ​

Job Responsibilities

Document & Case Management Support

Provides management and support of projects and cases related to electric, gas, civil, employment and other types of proceedings involving the CPUC, FERC, Superior, and Federal courts.

Review for privilege and/or redaction, issues and facts from depositions and other case-related documents; review of and categorize documents based upon case criteria.

Prepares documents and/or reports such as tables of authority, tables of contents, miscellaneous correspondence (E-Mail, letters, memos, reports for attorneys), reports for filing with regulatory agencies, standard pleadings, requests and responses to requests for production of documents, interrogatories, standard motions, requests for admissions, hearing summaries, declarations, chronology of events, trial exhibits.

Manage document productions. Manage relationship between outside counsel and the client. Responsible for the review and production of responsive documents and materials including the collection of relevant materials. Responsible for organizing all case documents. Responsible for designing the collection of potentially responsive documents through the discovery process.

Monitors docket activity, production schedules for hearings and discovery responses to help meet all deadlines.

Communicate and provide management and organization of discovery support for all matters including gathering and analyzing documents, privilege review and/or redaction, drafting requests and responses.

Assists with other special projects as assigned.

Legal and Factual Research

Research factual and legal issues, perform cite checking, editing, proofreading and general quality control to ensure compliance with court and/or regulatory agency rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, English, international relations, journalism, political science, public affairs, public policy, or related discipline or equivalent work experience 5 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or law clerk

Desired: Certified Paralegal (CP) credential 7 or more years of experience as a Paralegal Experience with litigation, employment, case management support, and court proceedings, processes, and procedures Experience with federal, state, and local regulatory and commission case management Experience with document management Experience with corporate contract management Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with litigation support software Exceptional written and verbal communication, including presentation and technical writing skills Ability to provide direction to others and assign tasks to clerical staff Excellent client/customer focus Takes initiative and works independently Ability to build consensus and contribute in a team environment Strong time management skills Strong project management skills Confident working with Excel including editing and formatting spreadsheets Knowledge and experience regarding the EDiscovery process, including the use of Relativity Proficient with all available Law Department software and technology including Law Manager, Relativity, Teams, Worldox, Excel, Access Databases, CPUC and FERC websites, etc. Proficient with Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw and regulatory agency websites to conduct research
