We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer
to support our Mechanical Engineers in producing high-quality engineering design drawings for plumbing, fire protection, diesel, and HVAC systems. In this role, you will create intelligent 2D CAD P&IDs, review drawings for compliance with standards, and help identify and resolve design conflicts. You’ll also have opportunities to guide and mentor junior mechanical designers as part of our growing team.
- Prepare intelligent 2D CAD Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on sketches, markups, and engineering inputs.
- Review drawings and documents prepared by others to ensure they meet drafting standards, internal procedures, discipline guidelines, and applicable national standards.
- Identify design conflicts and recommend effective solutions.
- Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to mechanical designers and drafters to support their professional growth.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of component lists and related design data.
- Meet schedule requirements while consistently delivering high-quality work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong working knowledge of industry-standard design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, PDS2D, PDS3D, SmartPlant P&ID, and related component databases.
- Experience working collaboratively within project teams to resolve issues and enhance processes.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—as well as strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Experience working with procedures that comply with quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1 or AS9100D.
- Level 1:
5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of equivalent work experience
- Level 2:
8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of equivalent work experience
- Active security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
