Cala designs and builds intelligent heat pump water heaters that redefine the water heating industry. Combining advanced sensors, hardware, and predictive controls, Cala’s system learns each home’s unique hot water needs to improve hot water comfort, maximize savings, minimize carbon emissions, and provide first-of-a-kind features such as integrating with home solar and battery systems.
The Role, At-a-Glance
You’ll be responsible for developing and overseeing the manufacturing and quality processes, implementing manufacturing engineering practices, optimizing industrial engineering techniques, and utilizing mechanical engineering skills to develop the production processes, tools and equipment.
What Will I Do?
•Design, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality and cost-effective production
•Develop and refine work and test instructions for safety, efficiency, and product quality
•Build strong relationships and collaborate with cross functional teams from operations, quality, procurement, R&D, sales and marketing
•Provide hands-on support for the work cells and equipment
•Review engineering change orders (ECO) and assess their impact on manufacturing
•Participate in design reviews, prototype builds, and DFM/DFA reviews during the NPD phase
•Analyze and improve current manufacturing workflows, equipment, and processes to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality
•Ensure appropriate process and product documentation
•Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions to improve manufacturing processes
What Qualifications Do I Need?
•BS in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related field
•5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2+ years working with engineering teams supporting NPI and continuous improvement projects
•Possess deep understanding of manufacturing technologies, tools, and equipment
•Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills
•Knowledge of change control processes and systems
•Passion for manufacturing and continuous improvement
•Ability to independently lead cross-functional projects to completion
•Experience with production best practices such as LEAN, Visual-Management, Kaizen, 5S, etc.
•Technical troubleshooting skills with a focus on manufacturing processes
•Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
•Proficiency in PLM & MRP software tools
•Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software is a plus
•Experience supervising technicians and contractors is a plus
•Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5%)
