The Senior Human Resources Advisor will support the employee life-cycle process, HRIS, the implementation of human resources policies and procedures and the administrative functions within the HR department.
- Participate and assist in the administration of all employee health and welfare benefit plans to include medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, and disability insurance coverages regularly, with duties to include, but not be limited to:
- Annual Benefits open enrollment
- Enrollment/termination of employees in/from benefit programs throughout the year as required.
- COBRA administration
- Interact with benefit consultants to resolve employee claim issues.
- Assist in administering all FMLA leaves in compliance with current Federal and state laws and regulations and company policies relating to eligible paid leave time (vacation, holidays, short and long-term leave).
- Submit required annual census and discrimination report information on a timely basis to allow for plan administrator/record keeper to timely issue IRS Form 5500.
- Timely handling of required employees' notices, such as 401(k) participant fee disclosure notices, safe harbor notices, and summary annual reports.
- HRIS: (Note: Experience with Paycom required)
- Subject matter expert for the HRIS and payroll system (Paycom); ownership of associated processes and data
- Developing and implementing HRIS processes for efficient HR and data management.
- Testing and integration of system enhancements
- Performing audits on HR processes and documents, including hiring, termination of service, and payroll administration, when required; act as main point of contact for external audits and reporting
- Keeping track of technological advancements and trends
- Act as a business partner, and support leadership with ad hoc deep dive data analysis to help drive business decisions.
- Work with Finance, Accounting, and Legal teams to provide essential information for applications, renewals, or audits of corporate insurance coverages such as workers' compensation, equity documents, and employment practices.
- Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, compensation, labor costs, benefits, government labor statistics, competitors’ practices, and other sources as needed.
- Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes from interviewing, offers and negotiations and on-boarding new employees
- Manage compliance and internal audits for corporate policies, programs and reporting for any employee programs such as I-9, EEO compliance, compensation, benefits, data privacy, and other data-related programs
- Serve as a key point of contact for external vendors (e.g. benefits, payroll, background checks, drug testing, immigration, Canadian PEO, etc.)
- Partnering with the HR Director to update and manage all US and Canadian policies to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Provide support and assistance on human resource strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions affecting individual companies and the market.
- Assist with coordinating yearly processes including contract rollovers, staffing, performance reviews, and compensation
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, state, and local laws by staying abreast of existing and new regulations, enforcing all employees' adherence, and advising management on best practices and/or required corrective actions.
- Gathers benchmark data about jobs, compensation and benefits to HR Director; participate in surveys as directed
- Assists with all aspects of employee on-boarding (hires) and off-boarding (terminations).
- Completes Forms 1-9, verifies 1-9 documentation and maintains 1-9 files
- Sound understanding and working knowledge of all federal and state HR, benefits, payroll, time and attendance compliance requirements, and best practices for privately-owned businesses.

- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required;
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources
- HRIS experience required, Paycom preferred
- Professional Human Resource or other Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) or Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) certification is preferred.
- Prior experience providing HR support to an energy commodity trading organization.
