The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the forward-looking financial aspects of the organization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, supporting the annual budget process, preparing strategic financial analysis and forecast scenarios, and developing financial models for capital projects. Assists month end close procedures, presentation preparation, and ad-hoc financial analysis projects.
Oversee and maintains the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, and modeling tools, including 3-statement company forecast model
Support the senior management team and department heads with in-depth analysis of financial data
Maintain comprehensive capital expenditure forecast and analysis of project cost variances
Support the annual strategic planning process through execution of site- and company-level scenario analysis
Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly forecast and variance reports
Implement and utilize business intelligence tools to streamline reporting
Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, including NPV, IRR, and other project return calculations
Assess and quantify key risks and opportunities for capital projects
Analyze current and past trends of key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, direct expenses, overhead, and capital expenditures
Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and analyze causes of unexpected variances
Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
Assist in presentations to the Board of Directors and senior management team.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, economics, or related field
At least three (3) years’ related experience; experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or accounting
Previous experience in mining, agricultural or energy industry
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cash flow modeling
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral presentation skills with the ability to summarize the key points in an analysis
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Incumbents must be able to perform work that requires typing, reading, communicating, sitting for prolonged periods of time, standing, and walking.
Is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel
Is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms
Is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance
May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
In the event that the incumbent visits an operations worksite, personal protective equipment including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing may be required.
Targeted salary range for this position is $123,000-$142,000 annually. Salary commensurate with experience and skill set.
