As a dynamic, creative and innovative Drilling and Blasting Engineer, you’ll provide quality consulting services to our growing clientele. You'll help lead expertise development in both open-pit and underground mining engineering as well as in heavy civil and urban construction projects. With us, you’ll have the opportunity to…
- Carry out expert mandates, including but not limited to optimization studies, trade-off analyses, estimates and audits
- Develop and revise designs, work methods and plans as well as manage studies and supervise the work of junior staff on various projects where drilling and blasting techniques are required or considered for rock fragmentation
- Work on a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers and support staff to develop various documents: proposals, studies, reports, plans, projects, cost estimates and specifications
- Liaise with clients on technical matters and be able to professionally present reports, publications and briefings
- Assist with and contribute actively to various business development initiatives related to drilling and blasting expertise for existing and potential clients
- Promote BBA’s operations and drilling and blasting expertise in the field of mining engineering by participating in professional conferences and work groups
- Serve as a mentor, provide training and share experiences with team members

- Engineering degree from a recognized university
- At least 15 years of mining engineering experience in the mining, civil engineering or other relevant sectors (e.g., consulting, technical representation for explosives supplier)
- Interest in business development and the growth of the firm
- Exceptional knowledge of and expertise in drilling and blasting software such as Deswik.CAD (.UGDB/.OPDB), Aegis, I-Blast, ViewShot, ShotPlus, Blastware Advanced, WipFrag, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment and process capabilities for various open-pit and underground mines and civil applications
- In-depth knowledge of commercial explosives and their accessories, including technical specifications, limitations and logistics and regulations related to their manufacture, transport, storage and deployment
- Knowledge of new technologies and innovative methods being developed or recently deployed on the market
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Ability to travel occasionally across Canada and abroad
