The Senior Data & Reporting Analyst will support the API Statistics Program by analyzing statistical data, designing surveys, benchmarking studies (i.e., data collection, harnessing data to drive insights), designing data visualizations, architecting robust data integrations, and overseeing the production of recurring and one-time statistical reports. They will provide expertise to staff across API, member company representatives and others on statistical data.
- Analyze statistical data and provide support to API programs, API Segments, Communications, and external customers.
- Collaborate with team members and IT to review and update outdated code, including re-writing programming languages for applications such as DWDS, JAS, etc.
- Oversee the department’s efforts in developing models for data analysis including text analytics, NLPs, and predictive learnings.
- Collaborate with the Weekly Statistical Bulletin (WSB) team in producing the WSB report, help ensure data quality and accuracy through data entry auditing and report generation. Assist in the enhancement of data collection processes, including data scraping, and automation of data validation review tools.
- Work with cross-functional teams on designing, creating, and editing surveys, data analysis, benchmarking, and report generation for ad-hoc projects; and serve as Project Lead in new department projects.
- Manage analysis and reporting midstream pipeline data from the U.S. DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), the API Pipeline Strategic Data Tracking System (PSDTS), and other governmental/regulatory agencies.
- Automate and oversee the data scraping, compilation, analysis, and reporting of data from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Form 6 database.
- Automate and oversee the data scraping, and analysis of enforcement actions in the industry’s pipeline activities, producing benchmark reports for pipeline operators.
- Oversee various data mapping projects, such as the API Environmental and Social Justice mapping tool and generate analytical reports to support industry activities.
- Design and implement interactive Power BI dashboards to translate complex datasets into executive-ready visualizations for members, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders
- Leverage programming languages to extract, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends and patterns.
- Identify opportunities for increased efficiency in existing processes and implement improvements by leveraging data analytical tools.
- Performs and maintains data extracts and imports; assists users as necessary.
- Provides analysis of business data needs and makes recommendations for viable solutions.
- Addresses issues of data integrity and migration (validation, clean-up and mapping).
- Troubleshoots data issues, validates results, and recommends and implements process solutions and improvements.
- Support the development and implementation of the API Survey Portal.
- Lead the evaluation and modification of the department’s applications, data management, and analytical software.
- Contribute to the development of a Statistics Program Procedures Manual, documenting processes and procedures used in the collection, management, and distribution of data.
- Work with IT staff engaged in programming report codes.
- Coordinate with the API staff and managers to develop and deliver Statistics Department work products.
- Requires 3-5 years of experience in a similar role and subject matter expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant area, or other related field equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in statistical issues particularly those related to the petroleum industry, including development of statistical models and data visualization (e.g. Power BI). - 2+ years’ of IT experience in successful implementation of information technology with a heavy focus on database development, data analysis, and reporting preferred.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access).
- Excellent skills in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, and VBA.
- Familiarity with either SAS, ArcGIS, and Forsta (or similar survey software/tools) is a bonus.
- Information management, data governance, data analysis expertise is strongly desired.
- Familiarity with application and website development.
- Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer.
- Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion.
- Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines.
- Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion.
