The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location.
Responsibilities of the Investment Planning Team encompass a full range of forecasting, budget management, and investment analysis activities. The Senior FP&A Analyst is in a unique position in the planning and control of the Investment portfolio as it sits at the intersection of business operations and financial control. The primary purpose is to establish, report on, monitor, and manage the company’s investment portfolio to financial targets for particular business areas. This represents a cross section of different operating companies that are supported by that particular business area. A successful candidate will embrace opportunities to work closely with peers and welcome new challenges. Additionally, the candidate has excellent analytical skills, a strong work ethic, and an ability to self-task with minimal guidance.
Develops detailed spreadsheets to manage the delivery of a functional business area by analyzing current and past trends to targets, validating forecast accuracy and highlights unexpected variances. This requires an in-depth experience and knowledge of capital projects within a particular area of expertise, phases of those projects, and projected in-service dates across ten years of data. Further requires working with project managers to review status and potential risks associated with forecasted capital spend on projects. (30% P) Communicates with business area budget managers, project teams, and peers to understand moderately complex issues and propose resolution. Builds rapport, actively listens, and creates an atmosphere of approachability to facilitate information sharing. May be required to present monthly results and projections, discuss issues and agree to course corrections to management of planning. (20% P) Monitors compliance to performance indicators, approvals, functional business area targets, and reports on these measures and metrics to management. Also works with peers within planning and business areas to realign business area targets. (10% P) Participates in planning discussions, analyzes, and provides recommendations involving ideation of projects, change controls and prioritization of the capital projects. Monitors business area targets and works with team as projects change or newly introduced. (10% P) Takes a new perspective on existing processes and takes the initiative to make improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. This often involves leveraging and advancing current or new investment planning systems, workflows and processes. (10% S) Works independently with minimal guidance to produce results, initiate change to personal working style, understand the operational environment and adapt accordingly. (10% P) Understands basic project management practices and standards with the ability to assess current project status, produce tracking metrics, and assess implications on functional business area portfolio. (10% S)
