EWP Renewable Corporation operates two gas-fired power plants under California Power Holdings in the state of California. As part of our commitment to operational excellence in the energy sector, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading the full-cycle accounting operations for one or more gas-fired power plants, including month-end close, AP/AR, audit, tax compliance, and cross-functional support.
· Record daily transactions including AP, AR, cash receipts/payments, payroll, and capital expenditures.
· Prepare and review month-end journal entries: depreciation, accruals, prepaids, amortization, prepaid expense recognition, asset capitalization.
· Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis (e.g., actual vs. budget/forecast).
· Oversee inventory accounting and Cost of Goods Sold recording, especially for fuel and parts.
· Manage revenue recognition and settlements for energy output (e.g., Tenaska or similar billing platforms).
· Monitor daily cash flows, apply cash receipts, and perform bank reconciliations.
· Prepare weekly/biweekly cash position reporting for management.
· Prepare audit schedules, assist external auditors, and support financial close documentation.
· Process tax filings (e.g., 1099s, property tax, FAS depreciation schedules).
· Utilize enterprise systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Maximo, Nitro, or similar for transaction processing, reporting, and reconciliation.
· Collaborate with operations, procurement, plant management, and HR for accurate cost tracking and accruals.
· Assist with office administration duties, such as managing supplies, mailings, and vendor coordination.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 5–7 years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in energy, utilities, or manufacturing sectors.
· Strong US GAAP knowledge, including accruals, depreciation, capitalization, and amortization.
· Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage) and ERP tools (Maximo, Nitro, etc.).
· Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
· Detail-oriented with strong internal control and compliance mindset.
· CPA license or active pursuit of CPA.
· Experience working with energy settlements, fuel accounting, or power plant financials.
· Budgeting, forecasting, and DSO/working capital analysis experience.
