SunVest’s Accounting & Finance team is responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP to report on company performance. The Senior Accountant, based in our Chicago HQ, will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and work closely with other team members to oversee general ledger accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit support.
This role requires an individual with strong attention to detail and an understanding of both financial and tax accounting, including support for corporate tax filings (sales & use tax, partnership returns, etc.), capitalized cost allocations, and tax research. The position also supports ongoing process improvement initiatives, ERP enhancements, and coordination across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and review general ledger entries, including project capitalization, operating expenses, AP/AR, and billing.
- Support timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and coordinate documentation for external audit and tax filing purposes.
- Assist with tax compliance processes including the preparation of sales & use tax returns, partnership and corporate returns, and coordination with third-party tax providers.
- Research complex tax issues and document accounting treatments in partnership with external consultants.
- Work closely with project finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure appropriate accounting throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Assist in the preparation of intercompany eliminations and consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities.
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and system workflows (NetSuite ERP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, with strong academic performance highly valued.
- CPA certification and tax experience are strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with exposure to both financial and tax reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

The salary range for this role reflects the broad array of factors considered in making compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $90k-$110k
