The Accounting Senior role is a key position within the finance department, reporting to the Accounting Manager. You'll be involved in a wide range of accounting activities, including month-end closing and financial reporting. A crucial part of this role is dealing with specific, complex accounting areas for the renewable energy industry, like tax equity HLBV accounting and lease accounting.
- Assist and participate in the preparation of various financial statements and reports, ensuring the integrity and quality of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform month-end close functions, including the maintenance of general ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue, cash, depreciation, cost, property, revenues, operating expenses, and borrowings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budgeting, and accounting. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and compliance matters
- Assist in establishing and resolving complex accounting procedures and processes specific to renewable energy.
- Record and reconcile loan origination, funding, interest accruals, fees, and repayments for project financing transactions.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of proven experience.- Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Ability to build strong relationships with team members.
- Strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking.
- Experience and proficiency with Excel, or various accounting-related systems.
- Familiarity with accounts payable processes and vendor management.
- Ability to leverage trust to influence and drive outcomes without formal authority.
- CPA certification.
- Preferred experience with public company reporting (S-1, 10-Q, and 10-K).
- Preferred experience as a credit administration specialist, or a project finance accountant in a bank or large financial institutions.
- Experience in renewable energy is preferred.
