General Description
This compnay is an established industrial real-estate property management and construction company located in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The Company owns and operates a portfolio of industrial warehouse properties throughout Carolina in partnership with its parent Opportunity Zone fund, as well as manages the construction and maintenance of its buildings.
As a Senior Accountant in the Real Estate and Construction industry, you will play a crucial role in managing financial activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
•Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
•Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support decision-making processes.
•General Ledger Management:
•Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate and up-to-date recording of financial transactions.
•Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
•Budgeting and Forecasting:
•Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
•Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
•Implement and maintain cost accounting processes for construction projects.
•Analyze project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and contribute to project profitability.
•Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial reporting requirements.
•Work with external auditors during annual audits.
•Manage cash flow, including monitoring receivables, payables, and working capital.
•Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and liquidity.
•Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation.
•Conduct periodic physical asset verifications.
•Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
•Provide insights into financial performance, trends, and potential areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is a plus.
•Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in the real estate or construction industry.
•Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
•Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience with construction accounting software.
•Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance.
•Familiarity with project cost accounting and job costing.
