The accounting team is seeking a highly analytical and self-motivated Senior Accountant
to support
Doral’s existing and future portfolio of energy infrastructure assets. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this role will play a critical role in supporting the accounting and financial reporting primarily for general and administrative (G&A) costs, prospecting-phase projects, and impairment and operational maintenance spend.
The Senior Accountant will serve as a key contributor to improving process efficiencies, increasing financial accuracy, and supporting cross-functional teams with technical accounting insight. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-growth renewable energy company using SAP S/4HANA (public cloud), with the ability to influence accounting operations and reporting quality.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records for general and capital accounts in accordance with GAAP.
- Support full-cycle project accounting across prospecting, development, construction, and operation phases.
- Perform month- and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Track project costs, classify expenditures, and ensure alignment with budgets.
- Oversee capitalization of project costs and manage assets under construction through fixed asset transfer.
- Support the FP&A team by providing accounting data for budget vs. actual analysis.
- Ensure compliance and support financial reporting by providing timely and accurate accounting data for internal and external reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., development, treasury, finance, and legal) to align accounting treatment with business activity.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting accuracy and efficiency.
- Utilize SAP Public Cloud to manage accounting functions and assist with system improvements and data integrity.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP with the ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions.
- Highly analytical with attention to detail and ability to identify process gaps.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Proactive problem-solver who is comfortable taking initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SAP S/4HANA experience required, public cloud preferred.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work extended hours as needed.
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a project-based or capital-intensive industry preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP
- BA / BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience in the renewable energy or infrastructure sector a plus.
- Experience in IFRS accounting a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
