Security Officer

Hussey Copper has an opening for a Security Officer at our Leetsdale, PA, location. This position guards our property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

Accountabilities:

- Periodically patrols buildings and grounds of industrial plant and offices. Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.

- Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

- Inspects security equipment to ascertain if tampering has occurred.

- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.

- Follows proper protocols for permitting access to authorized persons to enter the property.

- Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment for use of supervisory staff.

- Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the plant entrance to maintain orderly flow.

- Records scale weights of incoming and outgoing truck shipments.

- Inspects and cuts seals off or trucks using appropriate hand tools, including tin snips, cable cutters, and bolt cutters.

- Ensures proper protocol is followed to guard from theft of loads.

Minimum Requirements:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three months of related experience.

- Must have a valid driver's license.

- Basic First Aid/CPR certified.

- Must have experience using computer software including Microsoft products like Excel and Word and Outlook.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Preferred requirements:

- 2 years or more of experience providing security to an open facility.

- EMT certification.

- Associates degree or additional training post high school or GED in security services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Work is performed in an industrial setting with varying temperatures, loud noise and heavy activity.
