A laser operator team lead is responsible for overseeing the operation of laser cutting and engraving machines in a manufacturing or production setting. They ensure that the machines are properly maintained, calibrated, and operated in accordance with safety guidelines. They also train and supervise other laser operators and may be involved in the planning and execution of production schedules. The team lead may also be responsible for quality control of products produced by the machines. They also need to have good knowledge of fabrication, welding, and materials handling. Strong communication and leadership skills are also necessary for this role.
- Supervise and train laser operators in the safe and efficient operation of laser cutting and engraving equipment.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures for the operation of laser equipment.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of products produced by laser operators, ensuring that they meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate with production managers to ensure that production schedules are met, and that materials and equipment are available as needed.
- Communicate with other departments to provide updates on production and to address any concerns or issues.
- Work with other supervisors and managers to develop and implement new processes and technologies to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage the inventory of materials and equipment, and requisition new supplies as needed.
- Monitor and track the performance of laser operators, providing feedback and coaching as needed to improve their skills and productivity.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay current on industry developments and new technologies in laser cutting and engraving.

The work may involve standing for long periods of time and may involve working in potentially noisy conditions. Team leads may also spend time in an office, where they will monitor production, communicate with other departments, and make decisions.
