We are seeking an experienced Welding Lead to oversee our 2nd shift welding operations. This is a working lead position, meaning in addition to supervising, you will actively perform welding tasks to support daily production goals. The Welding Lead will play a critical role in ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency while guiding a team of welders to meet deadlines and uphold CMP’s high standards.
- Supervise and lead a team of welders, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure efficient workflow and high productivity.
- Actively participate in day-to-day welding operations while setting the standard for quality and craftsmanship.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to plan, coordinate, and execute welding projects effectively.
- Motivate and mentor team members to foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor welding processes to ensure adherence to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed work to confirm accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Train and mentor new employees on welding techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices.
- Share technical expertise to enhance the skills of the welding team and support career growth.
- Perform welding operations as part of daily production requirements.
- Utilize measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.), hand tools, power tools, and press brake machines.
- Support additional fabrication tasks as needed, including pipe threading and ductwork installation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Enforce all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
- Model safe work practices and participate in required safety training.
- Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role within a welding or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes (stick welding, MIG, TIG, soldering, etc.).
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and support production needs.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Experience with pipe threading and ductwork installation preferred but not required.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate power tools and fabrication equipment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Welding certification or related credentials preferred.
