The Assistant Safety Manager is responsible for supporting and managing the implementation of comprehensive safety and security programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors, while minimizing risks to people and property.
· Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Emergency Management, or a related field.
· Professional safety certifications preferred ( Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST),
or
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).· FEMA/DEMA emergency management training or certification is a plus.
· Valid driver’s license; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain preferred.
· First Aid, CPR, AED, and Fire Extinguisher Training certifications required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
· Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in occupational safety, industrial safety, or emergency management.
· Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
· Experience working with regulatory compliance programs including OSHA, DOT, NFPA, and EPA.
· Prior experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and safety training coordination.
· Familiarity with physical security systems (e.g., CCTV, intrusion alarms, access control) is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of safety management systems, regulatory compliance, and hazard identification techniques.
· Familiarity with emergency preparedness, disaster response planning, and security risk mitigation.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare detailed reports and present training materials clearly.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety software platforms (e.g., audit management, SDS databases).
· Ability to interpret technical safety regulations and apply them to company operations.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team of safety personnel.
· Calm under pressure and capable of making sound decisions during emergencies.
· Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of safety across all levels of the organization.
· This position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally,

· The role involves a combination of
sitting, standing, walking, bending,climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and
reachingin both office and field environments, including construction sites and operational facilities.
· Must be able to
inspect job sites, access confined spaces,and
traverse uneven or rough terrainas needed.
· Requires the ability to speak, hear, read, and write correspondence; must.
operate standard office equipment,including computers and communication devices.
· Must be able to wear
personal protective equipment (PPE).· Visual acuity is required for reviewing documents, conducting inspections
, and
observing safety conditions.
· Must be able to
respond promptly to emergency situations, which may require physical agility, endurance, and travel between various company locations.
· Requires ability to learn a sequence of operations and steps and operational processes; ability to research and analyze routine problems or data pertaining to problems of a routine nature;
· Requires competency in basic levels of business math and accounting in assignments related to data input and beginning level analysis.
