Job Description
The Safety Manager's primary responsibility is to create a safe work environment and safety focused culture resulting in a Zero-Accident Operations. This is accomplished by establishing and/or upgrading policies, procedures, work-steps, training programs, accident/incident investigations and other programs necessary to achieve the company's Zero-Accident safety objective. This position works directly with all levels in the organization to design, implement and audit strategic safety programs on an ongoing basis.
JOB TASKS
• Proven safety leader who inspires others to practice safety 24 x 7.
• Collaborate with operations to help implement a proactive approach to safety compliance focusing on training.
• Participate in operations team member meetings daily.
• Oversee Safety training and Forklift certification for new hires and also refresher training for current employees as needed.
• Primary contact for local, state and/or federal inquiry or onsite inspections.
• Facilitate with managers, supervisors and Human Resources during the workers compensation process.
• Maintain and compile OSHA 300 Logs and required postings.
• Evaluate, assess and upgrade safety policies & procedures to improve company safety performance.
• Conduct regular safety audits of all facilities to ensure and upgrade as appropriate, facilities, equipment, work practices, supervisor coaching, PPE, material handling and other safety concerns.
• Annual audit of all safety practices & procedures to ensure that they comport with latest legal, regulatory and industry standards.
• Prepare and conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees. On a monthly basis preferred.
• Lead accident & incident investigations to determine appropriate facts, root cause, required actions, necessary reporting and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Regularly research regulations and policies. Institute changes necessary to ensure compliance.
• Utilize injury/claims analysis reports to identify trends and opportunities for safety improvements.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, DEP, etc).
• Maintain ISO standards for employee safety.
• Serve as safety committee representative
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Preferred Bachelor´s Degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Basic or Applied Science, Environmental Science, or any other related subject.
• 1 to 3 years safety experience in manufacturing environment required, preferably heavy manufacturing
• Leadership skills and experience implementing change by working with senior leadership, peers and other employees without direct management authority.
• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification.
• Required to travel to and from between 2 manufacturing plants in the Washington County area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position does not require heavy lifting or other significant physical demands. It is required to spend significant time in hot manufacturing operations. It requires regular travel to company facilities within the same county.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; elevated noise levels and vibration. Employee must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
