Under direct supervision of the EHS Manager, performs a variety of clerical duties and technical tasks for the Safety Department. Compiles and maintains records of safety transactions and office activities of establishment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Work injury process: authorize clinic visits, track follow-up appointments, find and track restrictive duty assignments (at Deister Machine and Food Bank), first report of injury form, file insurance claim, enter OSHA log information in electronic records management, and file paperwork.
Track injuries by location, shift, department, and supervisor
Monitor the Deister IDEM program for required inspections and waste counts. Report deficiencies to Supervisor, Coordinator, Plant Superintendent, and Safety Manager.
Submit purchase requests for waste haulers hazardous/or nonhazardous waste disposal: paint waste at Pontiac and Wayne St., ‘oily water’ from parts wash, wash bay, and Machine Shop.
Schedule waste disposal for waste streams; paint filters/floor chips (nonhazardous waste)
Submit purchase requests for lifting device repairs as needed.
Submit purchase requests for Safety Dept. incidental needs (i.e. full-face respirators, face masks, bottled water, air wands).
· Updates employee rosters for Toolbox Huddles, training, and certifications (i.e. forklift driver lists, first aid).
· Participate in new hire orientation training as well as ongoing training requirements.
· Schedule follow-up and make-up hearing tests for individual employees (OSHA Hearing Conservation Program).
· Schedule annual sprinkler system, fire extinguisher, and lifting device inspections.
· Creates safety flyers and Safety Alerts for various events and training.
Organize information for Federally Enforceable State Operating Permit renewals.
· Updates SDS databases and understand how to approve new products for the plant as needed.
· Copy and distribute updated written Safety Policies to Supervisors, annually.
· Create forklift inspection binders for each Production Department, annually.
· Assist with PPE assessments and job safety assessments.
· Assist maintenance to write LOTO Energy Control Procedures.
· Update employees’ list with shift changes, new hires, terminations.
· Assist with first aid trauma bag and first aid supply maintenance.
· Create schedules for testing, training, and meetings.
