Job Summary
FRICO seeks a part-time Safety Manager to oversee compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and general safety regulations. The role ensures a safe workplace for field employees, including CDL drivers and equipment operators, by developing and implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, and providing training. The Safety Manager will report to [Supervisor/HR Title] and collaborate with operations teams to foster a culture of safety.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to MSHA and OSHA standards, including 30 CFR for mining operations and OSHA 1910 (General Industry) and 1926 (Construction) regulations.
- Safety Programs: Develop, update, and implement safety policies, including hazard identification, incident prevention, and emergency response plans.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site safety inspections and housekeeping audits, maintaining accurate records and reporting findings to management.
- Training: Deliver safety training, including new employee orientations, annual refreshers, and job-specific modules (e.g., mobile equipment safety, silica dust exposure).
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain OSHA 300/300A logs, MSHA quarterly reports, and safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals like frac sand.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the company representative during MSHA/OSHA inspections and advise management on safety compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: 3-5 years of safety management experience in industrial, mining, or construction environments.
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification required; MSHA Part 48 Trainer certification preferred; CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations, including hazard identification and silica dust controls.
- Strong communication skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software for reporting.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a part-time role.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and climb during inspections, occasionally in varying climates (heat/cold).
- Work Schedule: Flexible, approximately 20 -30 hours/week, with occasional on-call availability for emergencies.
- Travel: Travel within FRICO system in Adams and Weld County; valid driver’s license required.
