We are currently looking for a Full Time Safety Coordinator
As a key member of the Safety and Operations Teams, the Safety Coordinator will be based from our Burnaby location. This will be a field-focused role that also includes dedicated office days, working Monday to Friday but available for any after-hours emergencies. The Safety Coordinator will be the first point of contact for all safety-related matters and will work with all co-workers, supervisors, and managers to resolve safety concerns and proactively foster a positive safety culture. This role is ideal for a dedicated safety professional with Occupational Health and Safety education, experience, and a passion for keeping their co-workers and the public safe.
The Safety Coordinator's duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•Conduct delivery risk assessments at new and existing customer sites
•Prepare agendas for Driver, Warehouse, and Office Safety meetings and JHSC meetings
•Lead all Safety Meetings and produce meeting minutes
•Lead incident and near miss investigations
•Manage Corrective Action Plans generated form inspections, investigations, meetings, and audits
•Maintain co-worker safety and training records
•Conduct safety orientation for all new workers
•Arrange/coordinate appropriate safety training and orientations for all workers
•Communicate safety bulletins and notices
•Complete driver hours-of-service compliance audits
•Enforce adherence to laws, regulations and company policies and procedures
•Conduct annual internal COR audits
•Assist with return-to-work programs
•Keep all contractor compliance statistics and documentation up to date for our customers who use contractor management sites such as ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks
•Completion of the Trucking Safety Council of BC's Internal COR Auditor Course For Large Employers an asset

Experience and Qualifications:
•3 years experience as a safety professional, preferably in transportation and warehousing setting
•Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is mandatory
•Currently has or is partially completed the process for the CRSP designation
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
•A high level of proficiency with computers in general, MS Office Suite, and safety management systems - our candidate should be able to teach others how to use the technology
•Experience using contractor management sites such as ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks
•Experience with safety management and audit software including SiteDocs, AuditSoft, and WorkHub
•Excellent knowledge of British Columbia Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
•Excellent knowledge of National Safety Code
•Professional manner - able to easily interact with co-workers and customers of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures
•Ability to adapt to changing priorities or challenges
•Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with an attention to detail
•Enthusiastic drive to succeed and learn
•Ability to work in and be supportive of a strong team environment
•Ability to work autonomously with minimal management direction
