Entera Utility Contractors is a heavy civil and high voltage construction company that has steadily grown to one of the largest electrical utility contractors in the Greater Toronto Area. We are currently hiring for an energetic, self-directed person to join our safety team as a Safety Advisor.
Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Safety and Quality Program on-site, liaison with the client (Toronto Hydro) during program. Implementation and verification of control of non-conforming items. Ensuring that the highest degree of employee and work site, safety and quality standards are met.

It will be necessary to participate in upgrading courses from time to time to keep abreast of changing policy, technology, and growth.

Implement Safety Program
Co-ordinate employee safety training and maintain records through HRIS
Conduct Safety Audits
Conduct Safety Orientation to New Hires and visitors
Assist in development of the Quality Assurance Program
Maintain QC records
Conduct QC audits
Assist, advise and coach manager(s) and supervisors with
a. Hazard identification and control
b. Inspections
c. Investigations
d. Reports
Orientations
Training requirements
Job/project safety plans
Review/perform/complete incident and inspection reports and ensure that corrective action and follow-up is taken
Review and investigate problems not resolved by site supervisors and contractors
Establish inspection and meeting schedules.
Coordinate the development of safe work practices and job procedures.
Maintain inventory of safe work practices and job procedures.
Ensure that appropriate practices and procedures are provided to supervisory staff.
Conduct random work site inspections to ensure compliance with company policy and legislation.
Conduct scheduled workplace audits as deemed necessary
Maintain a location inventory of all company emergency equipment (first aid kits, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, etc.)
Review the maintenance of safety equipment.
Conduct internal audits of company loss control program
Conduct audits of subcontractor loss control programs
Employees know what is expected and how they can contribute.
Ensure a JHSC is created and functioning as per the OHSA.
Responsible for meeting the obligations of the contract and Client satisfaction;
Strives for “zero” rework due to poor work practices;
Actively promotes and implements a continuous improvement mindset through the regular review and discussion of human performance tools, lessons-learned, outage execution critiques, project close-out reports, customer feedback etc.;
Systems, policies and procedures employed on the Site comply with Corporate Policy;
Effective delegation and coordination of QC Inspector activities;
Implements effective controls, completes a minimum of (2) field observation/week;
Accurate and effective implementation of the Safety and Quality Program on-site
Lessons-learned / Incident Reviews
QUALIFICATIONS
Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (persuing or completed)
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong ability to multitask
Excellent facilitation skills
