Management is excited about Cavvy’s opportunities and prospects within our existing asset base in the Canadian Foothills; during the past year Cavvy has strategically refocused on sustaining and growing its upstream exploration and production (“E&P”) and midstream business. Our objective is to continue Cavvy’s pivot towards growing a sustainable and profitable conventional Foothills oil and natural gas business while continuing to explore opportunities to diversify market access for the products we produce.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Rotation Specialist to lead and support the reliability and performance of critical rotating machinery across all our operational sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of equipment such as compressors, turbines, pumps, and other rotating assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing maintenance strategies, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime. This is a key technical role that supports operational excellence and asset integrity across all sites.
- Lead and implement reliability improvement programs for rotating equipment across all Cavvy Energy Ltd. operations.
- Develop, optimize, and align predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
- Perform and lead root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle cost.
- Act as the technical authority on rotating equipment, providing expert support to maintenance and operations teams.
- Support troubleshooting and problem resolution for critical rotating machinery, both remotely and on-site.
- Provide guidance and technical input for spare parts strategies, repair scope, and operational best practices.
- Support equipment specification, selection, and design reviews for new installations and capital projects.
- Provide oversight during installation, commissioning, and start-up of rotating equipment to ensure compliance with standards and performance expectations.
- Manage technical aspects of relationships with OEMs, service providers, and repair shops.
- Oversee quality assurance of equipment repairs and ensure alignment with internal standards.
- Support procurement by evaluating technical bids and participating in vendor qualification.
- Monitor rotating equipment health through vibration analysis, oil analysis, and other condition monitoring tools.
- Analyze performance data to identify degradation trends, optimize maintenance intervals, and prevent failures.
- Maintain and update asset health reports and reliability metrics.
- Mentor and coach site-based maintenance and operations personnel to build internal expertise.
- Support knowledge transfer and standardization of rotating equipment practices across all Cavvy Energy Ltd. sites.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Ensure all work related to rotating equipment meets safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in safety reviews, audits, and incident- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience working with rotating equipment in oil and gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proven track record in reliability engineering, failure analysis, and maintenance strategy development.
- Hands-on experience with centrifugal compressors and gas turbines, ideally with OEM background at GE, Siemens, or Solar Turbines.
- OEM certifications are considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to assess rotating equipment health and predict/prevent failures using vibration analysis and oil analysis techniques.
- Working knowledge of CMMS platforms, with Maximo experience, is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., API, ISO) for rotating equipment maintenance and reliability.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to Cavvy Energy Ltd. Sites as required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound engineering decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working effectively across cross-functional and cross-site teams.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
