We are seeking an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our Finance department and play a critical role in driving accurate acquisition valuations and optimizing our mineral asset portfolio. This position will be responsible for generating type curve forecasts and asset valuations for the company’s ongoing acquisition program, as well as production forecasts for previously acquired mineral assets. This position offers the opportunity to lead the reservoir engineering function at an exciting, fast-paced, growing company while earning a competitive total compensation package of $175,000 to $220,000, .
- Perform detailed decline curve analysis and compare actual production performance against forecasts.
- Generate monthly reserve reports and associated data sets for existing assets, during the company’s valuation and cash-flow forecasting processes.
- Build and maintain accurate production forecasts to support company’s cash flow forecasting function.
- Conduct comprehensive economic evaluations for acquisitions, divestitures, and portfolio optimization.
- Support due diligence efforts on potential acquisitions with rapid technical assessments.
- Develop and implement reservoir engineering best practices and methodologies.
- Collaborate with Executive, Finance, and Land teams to provide technical insights that drive strategic decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering
- Proven record of 5+ years of reservoir engineering experience, with a strong focus on unconventional reservoirs- Proven background in economic evaluations, oil & gas reserve estimations and decline curve analysis
- High proficiency with Combo Curve or PHDWin (Combo Curve preferred)
- Skilled at integrating engineering data sets and forecasts into the company’s broader technological workflows
- Skilled at explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in mineral and royalty valuations (minimum 2 years preferred)
- Experience in acquisition and divestiture (A&D) evaluations, including sensitivity analysis and scenario modeling
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex financial modeling, power query, pivot tables, and VBA
- Experience with Spotfire or similar business intelligence platforms
- Programming experience in Python or R for data analysis and automation
- Understanding of hedging strategies and commodity price forecasting
- Active membership in SPEE (Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers) and/or SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers)
- Total compensation: $175,000 – $220,000 (Combination of base salary and profit share, depending on experience and structure)
