As a Regulatory Analyst, you will join our Environmental and Regulatory Strategy team. Your goal will be to consider the impact of existing and emerging environmental and regulatory implications to Irving Oil Ltd and support the team on environmental and regulatory matters. Your success in this position will be demonstrated through the following activities to position our company strategically, including engagement with internal and external stakeholders, analyzing and interpreting new and existing policies and regulations, proactively identifying issues and risks, impacts of those risks and solutions to mitigate risks, preparing reports and presentations for internal and external use, and collaborating with various teams across the business to develop regulatory strategies.

- Support development of regulatory strategy for new and changing environmental regulations that impact Irving Oil operations (US, Canada and international) by providing summaries, briefing notes, and presentations on new regulatory developments and changes
- Monitor and track new regulations and changes to regulations that have a material impact to the business
- Identify issues and risks to the business and identify opportunities related to new or changes to regulatory developments
- Support the business with the transition of new regulations or changes to regulations to implementation
- Provide technical support and participate in meetings and discussions to gain awareness and expand knowledge
- Participate in operational teams to establish compliance options for regulatory changes
- Attend meetings with regulatory and political parties with manager/director to provide support and to gain an understanding and expand knowledge in the applicable areas
- Strong sense of customer service; ability to prioritize and reprioritize quickly
- Aptitude to learn quickly, navigate the unknown and work with minimal direction
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

- Understanding of risk framework and tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Undergraduate degree in related field (Science or engineering is a definite asset)
- 3-5 years of regulatory experience in environmental field
- Energy industry experience a definite asset
