Job Summary
Manages the development and implementation compliance of CenterPoint Energy’s regulatory strategy for the Minnesota jurisdiction, including decarbonization initiatives through Minnesota’s Natural Gas Innovation Act. Assists with the development and prosecution of regulatory filings, with a focus on customer affordability programs. Develops and maintains positive relationships with regulatory bodies, other utilities, and industry associations on a regional basis. Leads the coordination of efforts and development for Regulatory Affairs analyst team and create positive working environment for our team to thrive.
Essential Functions
•Manages the development and execution of regulatory policies and strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders that support CNP’s corporate strategy, goals and objectives with participation of the appropriate CNP groups or departments.
•Develops and maintains positive relations with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
•Manages regulatory support activities for decarbonization strategies, specifically CNP’s Natural Gas Innovation Act (NGIA) innovation plan.
•Acts as a primary liaison with those regulatory bodies and their staffs, other industry stakeholders, and counterparts at other jurisdictional utilities.
•Represents CNP’s position in proceedings before regulatory bodies with jurisdiction over Company rates, tariffs, terms and conditions of service.
•Partners with a cross functional team for the development of recommendations to management for the need and timing of general rate cases and major filings to support CNP’s corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
•Assists in the strategic execution of major rate filings working closely with a cross-function team.
•Assists with the planning and preparation of miscellaneous and compliance filings, to ensure CenterPoint Energy’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, laws and regulations.
•Maintains good working relationship with regulators, their staffs, internal colleagues including legal, government affairs, rates groups, and customers.
•Provides advice, counsel and consultation to regional management on key rate and regulatory matters that directly or indirectly impact CNP or its business environment.
•Directs, develops and supports assigned employees in the performance of their essential duties and responsibilities.
•Knowledgeable of the various regulatory recovery mechanisms and how they work.
•Supports legislative policy, on behalf of CenterPoint Energy in collaboration with the legislative team.
Education Description
•Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
Experience
•Requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience working for a regulated utility or relevant work experience in the energy industry.
•Requires a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in at least two of the following:
+ Rates and regulatory matters
+ Creating and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies
+ Legal, rates, operations, sales and/or accounting experience in the energy industry or a working, knowledge of regulatory authorities
+ Rate and/or regulatory submissions
+ Direct interaction with regulatory personnel

Compensation: $128,165.60 to $192,248.40 Annually
CenterPoint Energy is required by Minnesota law to provide a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum starting compensation range at the time of posting for the opportunity. This annual compensation range is specific to Minnesota and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
