Summary
:
The Manager, Global Regulatory Affairs is accountable for providing expert input on chemical regulations and product safety requirements, ensuring products manufactured and marketed globally by LSPI are compliant with local chemical control laws and regulations. This position is also responsible for liaising with regulatory agencies and contractors for preparation and submission of required regulatory documents, registrations and related licenses. The position reports to the Director, Research Technology and interacts with all business functions providing chemical regulatory and product stewardship expertise and guidance to all levels of LSPI. The role is not limited to the above listed responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
:
•Communicate with regulatory agencies to clarify and resolve interpretative issues and to establish agency contacts. Develop and cultivate good business relationships with key decision makers.
•Track, analyze and communicate global chemical regulatory trends and developments that impact LSPI products. Contribute to the development of implementation and advocacy strategies as necessary and communicate implications to business stakeholders and senior leadership.
•In conjunction with Technology, review all new and reformulated LSPI product chemistry for compliance with local and regional regulations and determine when new product chemistry is subject to notification
•Plan and coordinate toxicity, safety and environmental testing programs with third-party service providers to generate appropriate data in the most cost-effective manner.
•Propose regulatory submission strategies and achieve product approvals in support of business strategies
•Manage the preparation and submission of substance and product notifications/registrations to obtain approvals in support of business strategies
•Monitor supply patterns and update registrations as required (e.g. tonnage band changes, product reformulation, identification of new markets, etc.)
•Maintain a centralized database of chemical registrations, notifications and product safety information
•Manage preparation and maintenance of LSPI experimental and commercial product Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard labels
•Network and leverage with internal HSE and ESG staffs and third-party consultants/experts
•Participate, as needed, in national and international industry and trade association committees and other appropriate platforms to monitor and influence the development of new product safety legislation and industry standards (e.g. API Product Stewardship committees and EOSCA)
•Develop and deliver regulatory and product stewardship training to business (R&D, commercial, procurement, etc.) on chemical regulatory management requirements and LSPI procedures and processes
•Manage regulatory affairs budget and external consultants/service providers
Skills & Competencies
:
•Excellent understanding of U.S. and international laws and regulations pertaining to chemical regulatory management – particularly TSCA, EU/UK REACH, Canada Environmental Protection Act, GHS, CLP, OSHA, OSPAR etc.
•Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to influence others
•Customer focus, outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills that drive timely, value added results
•Experience with government regulatory departments and requirements. Ability to communicate and work effectively with relevant legislative/regulatory bodies.
•Detail oriented, with excellent prioritization and follow-up

•Ability to effectively navigate and work within a global and culturally diverse environment
•Willingness to travel as necessary (estimated 20-30%)
•Familiarity with Intellectual Property issues
Preferred Skills & Competencies
:
•Working knowledge of SAP S/4 Hana EHS and IUCLID is a plus
Education & Experience
:
•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or regulatory area (chemistry, biology, public administration/affairs, etc.)
•A minimum of 10 years’ combined experience in chemical regulatory affairs and international chemical product regulations
•Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
