The Regional Service Director (RSD) leads a team of Service Managers at multiple branches in delivering high quality & efficient service to customers while assuring regional profitability commitments are achieved.
Safety Primary Responsibilities
The RSD is responsible for executing the company’s behavior-based safety program throughout their region. This includes assuring all service employees are adequately trained and equipped to perform their job duties safely each day. The RSD will monitor leading indicators of workplace safety (including employee safety interactions, site safety inspections and jobsite hazard analyses) to assure that each employee is focused on elimination of unsafe conditions and prevention of unsafe acts.
Human Resources
The regional service director shall be responsible for assuring adequate staff is deployed to support the delivery of break-fix service and projects (including heavy maintenance & equipment installations/rollouts). This includes engaging with the Human Resources department in recruiting, hiring, retention, employee development and performance management. The regional service director shall assure employee technical proficiency is maintained through active monitoring of service quality & customer satisfaction, and through engagement with the Training and Technical Services teams. Where required by state & local governments, the regional service director must assure availability of license holders needed to oversee service work.
Operations
- Through direct supervision of Service Managers, the RSD shall oversee branch activities on break-fix and project work to assure that each is performed efficiently and in accordance with customer quality expectations.
- The RSD will participate directly in planning new equipment installations (“rollouts”), often in coordination with the Director, National Service Accounts and/or the Sr. Director of National Projects and/or the Regional Sales Leader.
- The RSD will maintain field-level involvement including installations and where applicable, installation supervision for site construction (NTI or raze/rebuild) & major remodel projects.
- In collaboration with regional sales leadership, the RSD assures transparent & timely communication with key customers, and acts as an escalation point when needed for resolving customer issues.
Financial
The Regional Service Director will be responsible for overall profitability of the service business in their region. They will perform business development activities in coordination with Regional Sales Leadership to achieve revenue targets. They will manage service operations in the branches to assure efficiency and achievement of budgeted margins. Since efficient operation of the service branches is heavily dependent on the support of the Customer Care Center and service dispatch, the regional service director will work closely with the manager of the CCC/SSC to assure that work orders are created accurately, and technician dispatch is conducted effectively. In addition, the Regional Service Director will monitor service billing throughput and quality to assure service invoicing supports regional financial goal achievement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree in a technical/industrial course of study OR High school diploma AND 3 Years of petroleum equipment service and/or installation experience (preferred), or 3 years in an industry providing equipment service with skilled technicians (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of Management or Supervisory experience required.
- 12 months (minimum) managing a business unit with P&L responsibility.
- 12 months (minimum) experience in performance management (annual goal setting, annual employee performance assessment & feedback, employee professional development).
- Must be able to successfully manage and complete a high volume & variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to demonstrate competence in navigating a business unit income statement: Revenue, COGS, contribution margin (fixed vs. variable cost).
- Must possess proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to travel; must have a valid Driver License.
- Must have strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and strong customer satisfaction orientation.
- Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company.
- Physical Requirements: include occasional lifting/carrying of 10 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
