Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic
Regional Operations Manager - ERCOT Market Expansionto lead the planning, implementation, and execution of operational functions required to enter and scale a retail energy business in the ERCOT market. This role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and seamless market integration.
In this role, you will be involved with the following: Market Entry Planning:
- Develop and manage the operational roadmap for entering the ERCOT market.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure all regulatory, technical, and market requirements are met.
- Lead the registration and onboarding process with ERCOT, TDSPs, and other market entities.
- Design and implement systems and processes for customer enrollment, billing, settlements, and data management.
- Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors to integrate EDI transaction capabilities and market communication protocols.
- Establish SOPs for load forecasting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Ensure full compliance with ERCOT protocols, PUCT regulations, and REP obligations.
- Maintain documentation and reporting standards for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Monitor market rule changes and assess operational impacts.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Customer Service teams to align operational capabilities with business goals.
- Support product development and pricing strategies with operational insights.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Track key operational metrics including load accuracy, settlement variances, and customer lifecycle performance.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility into operational health.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and risks proactively.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Energy Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in retail energy operations, preferably within ERCOT or other deregulated markets.- Strong understanding of ERCOT protocols, REP operations, and market settlement processes.
- Experience with EDI transactions, load forecasting, and TDSP coordination.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and CRM/ERP systems.
- Prior involvement in launching a retail energy business or expanding into new markets.
- Familiarity with ERCOT systems such as MarkeTrak, Texas SET, and Retail Market Testing.
- PMP or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
