The Regional Operations Manager position is responsible for the overall service delivery of petroleum products and locomotive servicing in their regions, ensuring all deliveries are completed timely, safely and while adhering to all company, customer, and government rules and regulations. The ROM will oversee one or more sites and will be responsible to ensure proper working order of equipment and resources. The ROM directly oversees the drivers in each location they supervise providing motivation, support and guidance. The ROM will ensure all documentation and paperwork is completed according to company, customer and government rules and regulations.
1) Oversee daily operations by assigning and monitoring the workflow, resolving operational problems, and implementing new procedures. This includes daily contact with Site Leaders, visiting sites in your region on a regular basis, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and coordinating arrangements for equipment repairs as required, including transporting of equipment/drivers to and from vendors.
2) Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, and on-boarding new drivers, to include paperwork and training.
3) Perform on-going guidance, coaching and training to drivers. Training to include random safety audits monthly with the drivers to use as a coaching tool and quarterly safety meetings with the drivers, appropriately documenting audits and trainings.
4) Employee management to include coaching and counseling through performance evaluations and coaching logs, as well as disciplining through disciplinary notices and terminations.
5) Provide quality services by enforcing quality standards set by the company and the customer. This includes weekly communication with Railroad management, monthly inspection of all trucks ensuring there are no maintenance/damage concerns, and regular safety inspections of routes to note road conditions, crossings and hazards.
6) Review onboard computer system on all trucks in regions for correct entries and modify as needed. Report corrections to the Director of Operations.
7) Responsible for all paperwork, documentation, receipting and mail to the corporate office at appropriate frequency.
8) Monthly review of paperwork in each of the vehicles to ensure all cards are current i.e. insurance cards, vapor certifications, registrations, IFTA licenses, etc.

1) Degree in transportation/logistics or 5+ years of experience within the transportation industry.
3) Valid Class A CDL driver’s license with X endorsement as required, with an acceptable driving record.
4) Current DOT physical card or notation on MVR.
5) Acceptance by the customer’s security verification service.
6) Must be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment screenings.
7) Current/previous member of the McAlister Safety Committee (internal candidates).

2) Ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language and the ability to be understood.
3) Ability to compose written correspondence in a professional manner.

1) Day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours will be necessary as circumstances require. This includes shift work as necessary, at times with short notice.
2) Travel time could be up to 50%.
3) All work is performed in an outdoor environment and weather conditions of all types should be anticipated. Exposure to rain, snow, heat and cold as well as intense summer heat and winter storms could be expected depending on geographical area.
4) At times it is necessary to climb to a height and work in a precarious position while utilizing fall protection.
5) Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and high noise levels.
