Scope of Role
The Quality Engineer II is responsible for teaching and empowering Boston Gear associates regarding proper techniques for manufacturing high quality geared components and assemblies and monitoring production quality. The incumbent is also expected to take a lead role in the establishing and maintaining an environment of Total Quality in both attitude and behavior.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities•Evaluate failures of products and processes and apply appropriate problem-solving techniques to determine root cause and develop lasting solutions. Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions in response to customer complaints.
•Provide knowledge and instruction on manufacturing quality related topics such as measurement techniques, GD&T, machine setup, process audits, control chart interpretation, etc. Develop and conduct training as required to build quality awareness.
•Interact with suppliers and customers as required and provide professional, accurate and timely information. Complete customer required quality documentation for product acceptance.
•Interface with Engineering and Production to ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with approved processes and prints. Work one on one with operators as needed to instruct on proper machine and tooling setup and use. Assist with both internal and customer quality audits and inspections of operational and supplier programs and processes.
•Establish, maintain and implement processes for gauge calibration, use and upkeep.
•Apply the principles of RBS in accordance with Strategy Deployment. Use facts, data, trends and statistical analysis to drive continuous improvement in the area of geared component production and take appropriate actions to reduce the cost of quality (internal failure, appraisals, etc.).
•Occasionally travel (5-10%) domestically to customers, vendor or other Regal Rexnord sites, including attendance at off-site meetings, trade show events and professional development conferences or seminars.

•A thorough knowledge of:
•a. General machining and geared component manufacturing techniques including machine setup, tooling controls, inspection, troubleshooting etc.
•b. General knowledge of the operation, calibration and care of measuring instruments.
•c. Technical drawing interpretation, including GD&T
•d. Metrology and inspection techniques
•Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills, including the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions where limited standardization or information exists.
•Strong organizational skills, to include a demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and multiple priorities simultaneously.

•Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of SAP is preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to use statistical software (i.e. MiniTab) to analyze numerical data and process behavior.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills which foster teamwork and collaboration and develop high quality working relationships
•Demonstrated safety orientation and compliance mindset.
Education And Experience Requirements
•Bachelors degree in an accredited engineering program or related technical field is required.
•Experience with root cause analysis is required.
•Experience working in a manufacturing facility producing geared components in an Engineering or leadership or mentoring capacity is preferred.
•Experience implementing and/or maintaining ISO-9001, TS16949 or AS9100 certification is desired.
•Experience in Internal Auditing to ISO-9001 is desired.
•Familiarity and/or training in lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
•SAP experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Majority of time is spent in a general office environment, but regular time will also be spent in a manufacturing production environment where personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.
