Role Overview
The Quality Control Manager leads quality control inspectors at Ohmstede’s St. Gabriel Manufacturing Plant. Products must meet ASME Pressure Vessel Code and National Board requirements, as well as federal and state regulations. The Quality Control Manager will develop and execute policies and written procedures to ensure quality control and assurance is maintained throughout the entire supply chain and the manufacturing processes. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for development, record keeping, and execution of Quality Plans, to assure all components and assemblies meet applicable codes, Ohmstede Quality Standards, and customer specifications. The Quality Control Manager will implement audit and surveillance methods to ensure compliance with established company policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
•Initiate and implement quality processes and methodologies as appropriate to ensure the performance of the company’s product offerings of shell and tube heat exchangers, replacement parts, and repairs to existing customer equipment.
•Read, understand and execute Ohmstede’s Quality Control Manual.
•Develop Inspection Test Plans by reviewing customer specifications, coordinating with Engineering, and identifying inspection points, assuring the use of approved Welding, Heat Treat and Non-Destructive Evaluation procedures.
•Organize and drive customer pre-fabrication meetings to define and finalize the overall Inspection Test Plan (Quality Plan) for each job.
•Review final drawings prior to fabrication and notify the assigned engineer of drawing / specification / procedure discrepancies.
•Work with shop managers/supervisors to schedule QC inspections, corrective actions, and follow-up inspections, while minimizing overtime.
•Ensure supporting data and documentation requirements of internal and external inspectors are satisfactorily fulfilled.
•Notify customers and Authorized Inspectors of upcoming inspection and hold points in a timely manner.
•Support manufacturing by coordinating 3rd party quality services (such as Radiographic Testing, Heat Treating, and Helium testing).
•Generate Manufacturing Data Books to Ohmstede and Customer specifications.
•Lead the Quality Department by setting an example. Ensure NDE and similar reports are legible and filed immediately upon completion, and that all tasks are driven to completion.
•Develop and execute long range training plan to develop an inspection employee, and ensure minimum qualifications are maintained.
•Document and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and utilize analytical methods (i.e. – root cause analysis) to develop and implement solutions and process improvements to remedy recurring issues.
•Communicate key daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports during staff meetings and direct reports.
•Oversee gauge and tool calibration programs.
•Develop and maintain Quality records including Weld Procedure Specifications, Welder Operator performance qualifications, Welder Continuity records, Non-conformance Reports, Calibration records, and National Board registration log.
•Ensure all Quality activities are performed in a safe manner.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
Travel
Business will be conducted at the facility; however, some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education And Experience
•B.S. degree or equivalent experience/education combination.
•Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
•Supervisory/management experience.
Preferred Education And Experience
•B.S. degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
•Manufacturing and Quality Control in a ASME Code manufacturing facility.
•CWI or related industry certification.
