D. Martin Enterprises and its subsidiary, First Class Mill Services, has a growing manufacturing arm that supplies high-quality components to Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel mills across the U.S. Our focus is on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and delivering precision-engineered products on time. As we expand, we’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented team member to manage quality control, inventory, and job tracking — someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in improving our systems and efficiency.
The Quality Control & Inventory Specialist will lead day-to-day activities in quality inspection, inventory management, ERP system implementation, and job scheduling. You’ll be responsible for ensuring product integrity, tracking incoming and outgoing materials, coordinating orders, and supporting the successful setup and maintenance of ERP software for production and order management.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control
•Inspect raw materials and finished products for compliance with specs and quality standards
•Maintain quality assurance documentation and nonconformance reports
•Coordinate with production leads to resolve quality issues quickly and effectively
•Conduct periodic audits and ensure adherence to ISO or internal quality processes (if applicable)
Inventory Management
•Oversee material movement and stock levels in real-time
•Perform cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate records
•Organize and maintain inventory storage areas for efficiency and safety
•Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to forecast inventory needs
ERP System Implementation & Use
•Assist with the setup and configuration of ERP software (e.g., JobBOSS, ECI, or similar)
•Ensure data accuracy within the system for inventory, job orders, and materials tracking
•Train team members on basic ERP functions related to job and order management
•Continuously improve and optimize ERP workflows to streamline operations
Orders & Job Management
•Enter and manage sales and production orders from start to finish
•Track job progress, flag bottlenecks, and support timely delivery
•Communicate job status updates to production and sales teams
•Ensure job travelers, material requirements, and routing are accurate in the system
Requirements:
•3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial operations role
•Strong knowledge of inventory systems and quality control best practices
•Experience using or implementing ERP systems (preferably in a job-based manufacturing environment) a plus
•Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
•Ability to read technical drawings/specs (preferred but not required)
•Familiarity with products or services related to EAF steel mills a strong plus
•Excellent computer skills (Excel, ERP, inventory software, etc.)
•Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior experience working with steel mills, foundries, or similar industries
•Experience with JobBOSS, ECI, or comparable ERP/MRP systems
•OSHA safety training or similar certifications
•Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge a bonus
