We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to assist in the development and implementation of the Nano Nuclear Energy quality assurance program as we move toward initial construction of our Kronos MMR.
The position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance and is on-site, at our facility in Oak Brook, Illinois. You'll work independently with limited supervision, applying your knowledge to projects and processes. · Quality oversight to ensure work is performed in strict accordance with requirements of the quality assurance program and supporting procedures, work-instructions, and forms.
· Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and health program requirements.
· Collaborate with the project team to implement quality improvements and perform causal analysis investigations on project-related issues.
· Assists technical staff with the creation of quality plans and acceptance criteria lists, and selection of hold points on vendors’ manufacturing inspection plans.
· Promote Continuous Improvement and the timely reporting of all conditions that affect Quality.
· Lead and mentor personnel to ensure the correct behaviors are developed and reinforced.
· Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
· 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with 2 years nuclear quality experience in a Department of Energy (DOE), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), or similar environment.
· Knowledge of Quality standards such as ISO 9001, ASME NQA-1, and ASME III.
· Ability to work and demonstrate critical thinking individually and as part of a diverse team.
· Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
· Qualified lead auditor or the ability to qualify within 1 year highly desirable.
· This position requires access to safety related material and facilities. As such, passing a background check and a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program is required.
· This position may require access to radiologically controlled areas. Ability to meet all safety requirements is mandatory.
· Business travel to support supplier surveys and/or company audits.
