Material Sciences Corporation is in search of a resourceful and detail-focused Quality Control Manager to oversee the daily quality assurance and control operations at our East Chicago, Indiana facility.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day quality of all production and administration of quality control procedures. Provides technical support and a resource to Plant Operations. Acts as a liaison to Quality Control, Production, and Sales. Assists in the development of product specifications in cooperation with customers. Responsible for the continued development of the quality systems infrastructure and any necessary training of company personnel in its use and application.

- Facilitate and maintain the ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 17025 quality management systems and certifications utilized by the organization.
- Institutes Quality Assurance/Control Practices and Procedures to ensure compliance with requirements for finished products.
- Assists in claim investigations. When determined, implement corrective actions utilizing the organization’s ISO/IATF process.
- Facilitate the Quality Training of MSC employees by developing training courses, instruction, maintenance of quality training records and any other related activities in support of the organizations’ quality management system processes.
- Remain cognizant of all new developments/requirements in International ISO/IATF quality management standards.
- Provide required weekly/monthly reports and presentations to leadership staff.
- Determine and manage monthly HFI valuation and claims reserve requirements and submit information to accounting. Responsible for the timely disposition of all non-conforming materials either by claim or HFI.
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of APQP FMEA’s and Control Plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for departmental budget and adherence to that plan.
- Annual Operating Plan preparation: Accountability for variances from AOP vs. actual.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years in the application of quality management systems in a manufacturing environment, specifically with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and IATF 16949.
- In-depth knowledge of quality and production processes and their integration with various departments (Purchasing, Customer Service, Inventory Control, etc.).
- Strong customer service and technical communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and program management abilities.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills, ideally with experience managing a team of 10+ staff members.- Ability to travel as necessary.
