Summary: Performs skilled work in the operation of various types of farm related and other grounds maintenance equipment to properly maintain the Land Reclamation Site (LRS), Oxbow field, the River Walk, and the ponds and the parking areas along the SCWRF maintenance road. Assists the Farming Lead under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
•Operates farm equipment to include but not limited to bulldozer, backhoe, tractors and associated equipment. May be required to use basic hand tools, powered hand tools, and other grounds maintenance equipment in performing job duties.
•Trim and clear around and along fields, ponds, roads, fences, gates, risers, sampling and monitoring sites, and other designated areas to maintain safe access. Apply weed control as necessary.
•Performs inspections and routine maintenance, including proper lubrication, on all farm related and power equipment.
•Performs skilled work in the maintenance of vehicles and construction equipment as directed and scheduled by the Biosolids Foreman.
•Responds to equipment failures performs repairs on equipment.
•Performs and assists in dismantling equipment to gain access and to remove and replace defective parts.
•Performs routine and preventative maintenance on functional parts of devices and equipment.
•Performs and assists assembly and install on vehicles and construction equipment.
•Communicates with supervisor for the requisition for parts needed to perform duties.
•Inspects and tests all components of farming and construction equipment.
•Performs oil and filter changes, transmission service, tire mounting, and balancing, battery maintenance, lighting system checks and vehicle cleaning.
•Assists work group to carry out job duties associated with generation of work orders.
•Perform routine inspection and cleaning of RiverWalk from Bull Creek to Oxbow Meadows ELC following storms and on a weekly basis. This includes but is not limited to emptying trash cans, removing fallen limbs, and sweeping or blowing off sand and other debris.
•Ensure culverts and drainage system within Riverwalk area is functioning as intended.
•Perform grading and graveling as necessary to ensure proper drainage around SCWRF property, fields, and RiverWalk.
•Assist Farming Lead to manage ponds along maintenance road to limit algae growth, provide access, remove beaver dams, and occasionally check and stock fish population.
•Keep tractor shed and work area neat, orderly, and clean.
•Maintains drying beds and hauls debris to City land-field when necessary.
•Completes task in accordance with the CWW Safety Procedures.
•Participates in departmental meetings.
•Assist Farming Lead in other special projects as directed by Supervisor. From time to time may be called upon by a supervisor to perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. Three (3) years of experience related to the operating of farm related activities. Valid driver's license and a good driving record required. Must inspect mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation on farm equipment in operation, to detect flaws and defects. This position is exempt from a career ladder.
