The position is responsible for all leadership associated with the industry specific projects they are managing. This includes all pre-construction, construction, post-construction and project design related activities. The position is completely responsible for the financial performance of their project. They are also responsible for the team member management of the entire project including Field Supervisors, Project Specific PLD Specialists and Project Administrative Team Members. As a customer-facing position within the company, there must be a view towards the long term interests of the company versus short term individual or project needs.
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to assist in any duties that may be required to deliver a high-quality product for the customer.
1. Develop deep relationships with clients to ensure company is top of mind for future projects.
2. Develop thorough understanding of all owner and project specific specifications.
3. Propose industry leading changes in means, methods, design, technology, etc. for improved installation rates, overall process improvements and efficient field installations.
4. Develop and maintain project and company design standards utilizing appropriate PLD and engineering team members.
5. Maintain solid culture of safety on all projects while coordinating all safety issues and processes with company Safety Coordinator.
6. Develop and maintain a positive jobsite culture along with Field Supervisor.
7. Ensure Field Supervisor has all Tools, Material, Manpower and Information to complete their job on time and on budget.
8. Utilize Project Assistant to help on any tasks within their area of responsibility including, but not limited to, purchasing, RFIs, Transmittals, Submittals, etc.
9. Complete management of project Scope of Work, including pricing and negotiation of extra work.
10. Creation and rigorous maintenance of project schedules and associated resource loading.
11. Manage project subcontractors and ensure proper execution of scope of work and adherence to specifications and quality expectations.
12. Completely responsible for productivity of field team. Uses company KPIs to help drive production and execution with Field Team.
13. Develop and maintain project budget utilizing the estimate as the guide for initial set-up.
14. Maintain all project related documents including but not limited to RFIs, Submittals, Transmittals and Drawings.
15. Participate in annual performance reviews with field team members working on projects.
16. Follow all project management SOPs while also working on their improvement when necessary.
17. Drive company brand promise and core values both internally and externally.
18. Have the willingness and skills to jump in to support any role necessary should the need arise.
19. Be the “Buck Stops Here” leader for the project.
20. Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed on every project.
21. Participate in all weekly Divisional Project Management meetings.
22. Have a high willingness and desire to learn and grow. Able to accept performance feedback to help aid in their ability to become an industry leader.
1. May not change the scope of work or deviate from any other part of the contractual agreement without prior approval from the customer or Project Director. Within the project team has the responsibility to assign work, to establish schedules, to instruct team members and to provide feedback. Does not have hire and termination authority, but may recommend such actions.
1. Reports to the Project Director for their Division. Must maintain a positive relationship with all customers. The Project Manager must be able to relate to clients in a thoughtful, professional, and pleasant manner. The develop of technical skills of team members working on their projects is also a part of the position and requires empathy, patience, understanding, and a genuine interest in others. The Project Manager must promote interdepartmental communication and cooperation.
1. The Project Manager is the head project-related representative for the company and must take the ownership that entails. They must work to build a project team that is self-sufficient through the use of company procedures and core values. They must execute thoroughly on all projects to achieve financial success and meet or exceed project profit projections.
1. Minimum of 5 years construction industry experience, Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Project Management a plus.
2. No requirement of project management experience, but any experience is highly valued.
3. Have a general understanding of all electrical systems including but not limited to electrical distribution, lighting and special systems. Any division specific experience is a plus.
4. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, written and oral skills.
5. Exhibit sound and accurate judgement; support and explain reasoning for decisions.
6. Bring a positive can-do attitude every day.
7. Ability to take initiative and manage multiple, simultaneous priorities.
8. Ability to work with and lead teams in problem solving environments.
