Founded in 1986, Atlantic Fabricating Company is a woman-owned small business specializing in laser cutting, machining, metal fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly. From our fully equipped 18,000 sq. ft. facility in East Granby, CT, we support industries including nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical, and advanced manufacturing.

The Project Manager is responsible for taking jobs released by the Operations Manager and seeing them through completion. This includes purchasing raw material, hardware, and outside services; coordinating with suppliers; and working closely with the shop team to ensure the right materials, methods, and solutions are applied to each project. The role requires strong organizational skills, a focus on procedures, clear communication, and the ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced, small business environment.
- Take ownership of jobs once released from the Operations Manager and manage them through delivery.
- Serve as the primary coordinator between operations, purchasing, and the shop floor to resolve issues and keep projects on track.
- Maintain accurate status updates in Fulcrum ERP and provide progress reports to management.
- Monitor project milestones, lead times, and material availability to ensure deadlines are met.
- Purchase materials, hardware, and outside services based on bills of material (BOMs) and job requirements.
- Work with the team to select materials and identify best-value sourcing options.
- Place purchase orders, track deliveries, and communicate supplier updates to the team.
- Negotiate with vendors to achieve cost savings and reliability.
- Communicate daily with the shop team to ensure material readiness and resolve project issues.
- Support problem-solving on jobs, including material substitutions, process adjustments, and vendor changes.
- Check with the Receiving Manager to ensure all incoming material documentation is entered into Fulcrum ERP correctly.
- Act as the link between the business development, operations, and production teams to align priorities.- 4+ years of experience in project management, purchasing, or operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Background in sheet metal, machining, or welding strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Fulcrum ERP experience is a plus).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to create, follow, and improve procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
- Effective communicator with both internal teams and external vendors.
- Problem-solving mindset with initiative to take ownership of outcomes.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with material handling as needed.
