Job Description: Project Engineer (Environmental and Regulatory)
Location: Kamloops, BC (with site visits to Cache Creek, BC)
Wastech Services, a subsidiary of the Belkorp Group of Companies, is a BC-based company. We operate the Campbell Hill Landfill in Cache Creek, BC and are also responsible for the post closure care of the Cache Creek Landfill.
We are looking to add a Project Engineer (Environmental and Regulatory) to our team. This position will report to our Senior Project Engineer or General Manager, and will be based out of our Kamloops, BC, office working closely with both the on-site staff in Cache Creek as well as our staff in the Kamloops office.
Responsibilities:
•Assisting Senior Project Engineers with overseeing environmental monitoring and regulatory aspects of the Campbell Hill Landfill and the Cache Creek Landfill.
•This includes coordination and preparation of data and reports for annual landfill reporting, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting.
•Communicating and reporting any potential non-compliance issues to engineers, management team and providing suggestions for plans forward as needed.
•Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
•A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably civil, environmental, geotechnical or geological).
•Registered (or ability to register) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) (or ability to obtain registration) as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
•Strong organizational skills
•Effective and efficient time management skills.
•High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
•Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, in particular Excel, Project, and Outlook.
•Ability to keep data and files organized and presentable.
•Ability to work with minimal supervision.
•Effective verbal, listening and communication skills.
•Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
•Class 5 Drivers License in good standing.
•At least two years’ experience in a field applicable to environmental engineering or solid waste management (e.g., landfill design, contaminated sites, hydrogeology) with experience in project coordination or management would be considered an asset.
•Knowledge of BC and Canadian regulations relevant to solid waste management in BC (e.g., Environmental Management Act, Waste Management Act) would be considered an asset.
•Formal courses in project management would be considered an asset.

Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
