Project Development & Project Management Engineer – Solar (LT2 & Commercial Projects)
The Project Development & Project Management Engineer will be responsible for utility-scale solar farm development under Ontario’s LT2 Program, as well as commercial and some residential solar project execution. This role combines front-end development, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, and hands-on project management, ensuring projects are delivered from early development through commissioning.
- Prepare, compile, and submit all required documentation for LT2 solar farm projects in Ontario.
- Manage LT2 RFP registration processes, including Proposal Workbooks, Economic Bid Statements, and supporting schedules.
- Track and implement all IESO updates, clarifications, and addenda to maintain full compliance.
- Coordinate feasibility assessments, interconnection studies, and environmental requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed submission schedules aligned with IESO deadlines.
- Lead communications with the IESO in accordance with permitted and restricted communication rules.
- Engage municipalities, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders in accordance with LT2 engagement requirements.
- Ensure technical accuracy of proposal documentation, including system capacity, connection voltage, site location, and energy estimates.
- Coordinate with engineering and legal teams to assemble compliant and complete LT2 submissions.
- Provide regular progress updates, identifying risks, milestones, and mitigation strategies.
- Develop standardized templates, checklists, and workflows for future LT2 submissions.
Project Management – Commercial & Residential Solar
- Oversee end-to-end execution of solar projects from contract award through commissioning.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and installation teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and permitting processes.
- Conduct site visits and quality inspections to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Act as the primary client contact, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.
- Track project financial performance and report cost or schedule variances.
- Accurately collect site data including electrical, civil, and structural information.
- Ensure site measurements, photographs, and documentation are complete and precise.
- Utilize standardized Site Capture templates for consistent data entry.
- Update templates as required to meet project-specific needs.
- Input data using appropriate field types and attach supporting files and images.
- Verify compliance with utility requirements (PCIR, Hydro accounts), company standards, and applicable codes.
- Review site data for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Generate reports to support design, permitting, and construction decisions.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
