Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient
Project Buyer
to manage procurement activities for oil and gas manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing engineered components, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services critical to project success. This role requires deep understanding of procurement in a regulated, safety-critical environment and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, production, and project management teams.
Tasks & Responsibilities•Manage end-to-end procurement for assigned oil and gas projects, from requisition to delivery.
•Source and negotiate with vendors for technically complex components such as valves, pumps, piping, instrumentation, structural steel, and fabricated assemblies.
•Interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and specifications to ensure supplier compliance with engineering requirements.
•Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier bids (technical and commercial), and prepare bid comparison reports.
•Ensure procurement activities align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
•Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to manage material requirements and resolve technical queries with suppliers.
•Monitor supplier performance and expedite deliveries to meet project milestones.
•Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls and industry regulations (API, ISO, ASME, etc.).
•Support vendor qualification processes and perform site visits or audits as needed.
•Collaborate with logistics, QA/QC, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth receipt and inspection of materials.
Competencies
•Strong understanding of technical procurement, including materials for pressure systems, rotating equipment, and fabrication.
•Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS) and procurement tools (Infor Visual preferred).
•Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (API, ASME, ASTM, etc.).
•Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills.
•Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as P&IDs, BOMs, and engineering drawings.
•Experience with EPC project environments or working in a project-driven supply chain. (Preferred)
•Familiarity with Incoterms, international sourcing, and customs documentation. (Preferred)
•Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an advantage. (Preferred)
•Working knowledge of Lean/Just-In-Time (JIT) principles and inventory management. (Preferred)
Education/Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
•3–5 years of procurement or purchasing experience in the oil and gas or heavy manufacturing industry.
Working Conditions
•Office and occasional on-site work at manufacturing facilities or supplier locations.
•May require travel to local or international suppliers.
•Must be able to work under pressure in a deadline-driven project environment.
