Key Function: Responsible to supervise the efforts of staff and initiatives for elements related to production for Kubota Materials Canada Corporation during the Overnight Shift; 11 PM - 7 AM, Sunday - Thursday, with the option to rotate as needed.

Duties:

•

Remain current on immediate, short-term and long-term production requirements

•

Main point of contact for employees

•

Ensure complete familiarity with the operation and safe emergency shut-down of all equipment within the department

•

Model appropriate behaviour including communication, safe work habits, wearing of PPE, and adherence to KMC policies

•

Schedule activities of personnel to meet production goals required for departments across all three shifts

•

Liaise with other departments as required to maintain information and production flow

•

Ensure personnel are operating under the requirements of the current collective agreement

•

Troubleshoot issues in production or personnel conflicts; seek assistance from Manager, as needed

•

Tour prospective employees of production areas to give realistic job preview, prior to hire

•

Ensure all staff are properly trained on any equipment, prior to use

•

Participate in regular emergency evacuation/shut down procedures, to maintain quick response time

•

Report regularly on production achievements and/or roadblocks

•

Report and follow maintenance issues as they affect safety and production area

•

Conduct thorough debrief with in-coming (next shift) Supervisor to ensure continuity of supervision

•

Maintain safety of employees as paramount priority

•

Participate in inventories as scheduled; both cycle counts and full inventory accounting

•

Participate in Toolbox talks with staff and health and safety meetings

•

Ensure alignment with the overall production goals and objectives

•

Conduct audits for compliance, safety, production and/or quality as required to meet Kubota standards

•

Support Kubota Global Identity, with the Brand and Spirit statements of Kubota Materials Canada Corporation

•

Other related duties, as required

Decision Making & Independence::

•

Direct, schedule, oversee and monitor the daily efforts of staff

•

Ability to identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and act on results

•

Escalate matters to Manager as required

•

Ability to work with little supervision

Supervisory Responsibility:

•

Teach, coach and lead staff to perform duties within established quality standards

•

Schedule employees based on departmental needs, including planned and unplanned absences

•

Monitor attendance of staff and flag concerns to Human Resources

•

Liaise with Human Resources with identified/approved recruitment needs

•

Engage and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources and individual need

•

Promote excellent employee relations through respect, curtesy, tact and friendliness

•

Ability to work independently and/or cohesively as part of a team and inspire, foster commitment and pride while promoting good employee relations with co-workers, staff, and other departments

•

Develop performance standards for staff, communicate frequently on tasks, and conduct regular evaluations

•

Report, investigate and take appropriate action on incidents in the workplace

•

Display of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee matters

•

Attentiveness to required paperwork and online entries (not limited to: payroll submission deadlines, reports, monitoring employee absences)

Education and Experience:.

•

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

•

Minimum 5 years experience in a hands-on role in a manufacturing/fabrication facility

•

Minimum 2 years experience leading staff or sub-contractors in a production environment

•

Commitment to lean methodology practices for process improvement

•

Ability to read and interpret blueprints

•

Experience leading in a unionized environment preferred

•

Training courses in related Health and Safety

•

First Aid & CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain

•

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs

•

Strong communication skills, including conflict management of staff

Physical / Psychological Demands & Working Conditions:

•

Indoor climate – conditions can very, including extreme heat (PPE provided)

•

Regular use of computer and other office equipment

•

Frequent presence in manufacturing areas

•

Must be able to stand/walk for prolong periods of time

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

•

Ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors

•

Report Safety issues to management and suggest improvements

•

Participate in and provide the necessary training for staff, allowing sufficient time for completion

•

Oversee work activity to ensure adherence to requirements under OHSA, including regular risk assessments

•

•

Model safe and appropriate behaviour

•

Wear any necessary personal protective equipment, as prescribed

•
